Eldrick Tont „Tiger“ Woods (*30. prosince 1975) je americký profesionální golfista s výsledky, které ho zařazují mezi nejúspěšnější golfisty všech dob. V roce 2007 byl Woods nejlépe placeným atletem, když vydělal 122 milionů dolarů. Podle Golf Digest Woods vydělal od roku 1996 do roku 2007 769,440,709 dolarů a časopis předpokládá, že do roku 2010 se Woods stane prvním atletem, který překročí výdělek jedné miliardy.
Woods vyhrál čtrnáct profesionálních majorů, což je druhý nejlepší výsledek v mužském golfu na světě. Má víc vyhraných majorů a turnajů na PGA Tour než jakýkoli jiný aktivní hráč. Je nejmladší golfista, který dosáhl Grand Slamu (vyhrál všechny čtyři nejdůležitější turnaje v jednom roce - Masters, US Open, British Open a PGA Tour) a nejmladší golfista, který nejrychleji vyhrál 50 turnajů na tour.
Woods rekordně devětkrát vyhrál cenu hráče roku na PGA Tour, osmkrát vyhrál cenu Byrona Nelsona a skončil nerozhodně s Jackem Nicklausem ve vedení na seznamu nejlépe placených golfistů během osmi sezón. Byl také jmenován atletem roku Associated Press a jako jediný byl víc než jednou prohlášen sportovcem roku časopisem Sports Illustrated.
Díky Woodsovi se golf stal populárnějším i mezi míšenci. Dramaticky se zvedla sledovanost a hodnocení televizních pořadů hry, která byla považována jen za hru "vyvolené" elity.
Po výhře na US Open v roce 2008 si Woods dal pauzu až do konce sezóny (zmešká tím dva majory a Ryder Cup 2008) a bude se soustředit na rehabilitaci zraněného levého kolene
Biografie
V roce 2005 Tiger vydělal 1 089 000 000 korun a stal se tak nejlépe placeným sportovcem. V mládí byl však celkově dobrým sportovcem - hrál baseball, dokud mu jeho maminka neřekla, že si musí vybrat jaký sport bude dělat, že nemůže být dobrý ve všem. A Tiger si vybral golf. Jeho talent byl nebývalý. Už v pěti letech, kdy se ještě učí malé děti pouze základům, zahrál první devítku na pouhých 42 ran na paru 36. Tiger vyniká zejména v krátké hře.
